How to measure your Greyhound: (See above diagram also)
When measuring your Greyhound, I need three measurements to make sure the coat and snood fit well. Measure your hound in these three places and write down the measurements.

  • Length - From where the neck bends and becomes the back, along to the end of the spine (usually 26" - 29" for greyhounds)
  • Girth - Biggest distance around the chest, just behind the front legs (usually 28"-31" for greyhounds)
  • Head – measure around the head just in front of the ears (usually 14”–15”for greyhounds)

Additional measurements for Italian Greyhounds & Whippets ONLY:
For Italian Greyhounds & Whippets I need the above three measurements and also an additional measurement for the snood length. (See diagram below also)

  • Snood Length – Take measurement in front of ears to where neck bends.
Use a flexible measuring tape when you take your grey's measurements.  Above is how you meaure length, girth and head.
Additional chest width measurement for non-greyhound breeds such as
Boxers, Dobermans, Labrador Retrievers - any wide-chested breeds: (see photo below)
